Trivandrum: The Kerala goverment is considering an Assembly resolution seeking construction of a new dam to replace the 116 year-old mullapperiyar dam.

The Cabinet, meeting here on Wednesday, will decide the date for summoning the Assembly, possibly in the first week of December. Kerala will also consider approaching the Supreme Court if Tamil Nadu is not amenable to its demand for lowering the reservoir level in view of the deteriorating condition of the dam and recurring earthquake in the region.
