V.V.IMP message from central government. New step again.
This is definitely going to save u money..

Dear All,

This is to inform you that medicines are prescribed (by doctors) by brand name & not by the generics (Ingredients). Hence we end up paying more money for the same medicine.

Follow these few steps to know more & start saving on your medical bills.

1. Simply goto www.Manddo.com (Medicines and Doctors online) goto medicines secton

2. Search the medicine name

3. Type the medicine name which you are using (e. g. Lyrica 75mg (Pfizer company)

4. It will show u medicine company, prices and Ingredients

5. Now main point CLICK ON 'SUBSTITUTE'

6. Don't be surprised to see that same drug is available at very low cost also. And that to by other reputed manufacturer. e. g. Lyrica by pfizer is for Rs. 768.56 for 14 tab (54.89 per tab). Whereas same drug by Cipla (Prebaxe) is available ONLY @ Rs. 59.00 for 10 tab (5.9 per tab)

Please don't delete this without forwarding.

Forward to all the contacts in your phone book.

Let the move by Supreme Court benefit everyone...

There was a big lobby by Pharma companies to stop generic medicines. But court kept the interest of common man and the medical need.

VERY USEFUL INFORMATION TO UNDERSTAND THE EXTANT PROBLEM OF INADEQUACY OF CASH IN ATMs

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

Mr Rituraj Sinha, the man in charge of the SIS Security group, has shared the following information:-

The chaos over the last 10 days post the announcement of demonetisation programme is unprecedented!

There is no denying that millions have been inconvenienced. The news channels have left no stone unturned to spike the frustration and agony.

But as someone who has been in the middle of this chaos (as the President of the Cash Logistics Association as also a part of the RBI ATM taskforce), I would like to share some latest developments that may help ease your concerns -

1. First up, this is not a currency supply issue. RBI is quite well prepared to replace the 13.8 lakh crore of currency value that was withdrawn from circulation as result of the demonetisation programme. This is purely a logistics challenge i.e. getting adequate currency into banks and ATMs as quickly as possible.

2. ATM queues are a result of the simple fact that ATM machines are not configured to carry the new 2000 and 500 currency notes as they are of different sizes. This necessitates a hardware + software change process which requires an engineer to visit each of the 2,10,000 ATMs scattered across the country. This is bound to take time. Cannot be short circuited.

3. Also, ATMs are running dry because cash logistics providers like us are able to fill most ATM machines with only old 100 denomination currency. Resultantly, cash loading value per ATM has dropped to 4 lacs per loading, which means that it is good for only 200 odd transactions. Before 8th, these ATM machines would be topped up with 30-40 lacs per replenishment. So on one hand, the quantum of currency available through ATMs has dropped, on the other hand, number of people visiting each ATM has gone up multi fold.

Now some good news :

1. Almost 35,000 ATM machines will be re configured to carry new high denomination currency by end of today (18th). At this pace, as RBI ATM taskforce, we believe that a majority of ATMs across India can be reconfigured by 22nd November.

2. As ATM machines are being reconfigured for new high denomination currency, cash logistics operators are topping them up with 60 lacs per loading, which means that almost 3000 people can draw cash per loading. As we are able to do this at more ATMs over next 3 -4 days, you can expect length of queues as well as 'cash out' instances to start declining.

3. Remember that 2 lac bank employees, RBI staff, ATM OEM engineers and 45000 employees of cash logistics companies have been working literally non stop since 9th to ease the public inconvenience. And it is amazing but true that this lot of 2-3 lac people have set aside their personal challenges as a result of this cash crunch altogether and taken this crisis up as time for - "national duty".

I just wanted to get the word out to all of you. Apologies for all the missed calls and no response on messages.

This is a national crisis. We all are impacted. But there is no reverse gear for this one. And by and large the nation seems to agree that this is for larger good - of our economy but also for our society.

And that is the reason why we have long queues and instances of public anger yet, there are queues (basic order) - there is no ransacking, no mass protests on streets (leave aside the political ones) and no major law and order incident!

We all want to fight corruption....but some of us don't want to be personally inconvenienced at all in the process....But then, how can a major reform like this be effected without any collateral damage.

There is no denying that there could be no greater blow to those who have amassed wealth illegally. Government estimates that 3-4 lac crores rupees of unaccounted/ black money will exit the system by this single move. Not to mention the deterrent effect this move will have for the  wrong doers for all time in the future.

So, let's hang in there. Work on reassuring others rather than help amplify disappointment and panic.

As a nation we have tremendous capacity 'to adjust' and 'to survive' through chaos. I'm sure we'll get past this ...and move towards a less corrupt India!

The financial year will shift to Jan- Dec instead of April-March.

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]
Guys....from a very reliable source.
The financial year will shift to Jan- Dec instead of April-March.
Announcement will be made on 30th December
‬: There is a strong possibility that Government may scrap Income Tax from FY 2017-18 and replace with Banking Transaction Tax (BTT). from 1st April 2017 possibility of only two taxes 1. Direct Tax as BTT and 2. GST as indirect Tax.

How does the Government plan to remove black money from India ?
Step 1 : Demonetise Rs.500 and Rs.1000. get Rs.1420000 crores out of the market.
Step 2 : Print Rs.2000 and Rs.500 and Rs.100 in the replacement market.
Step 3 : Dismantle the cash economy by not allowing any cash transaction above Rs.10000 without PAN or Aadhar.
Step 4 : All salaries and business expenses required to be made in cheque or RTGS only to claim expenses in Income Tax. All cash transactions to be disallowed.
Step 5 : A Cash Limitation order will be issued that will allow only maximum cash allowance of total Rs.50000 per person.
Step 6 : As the cash economy is destroyed after a few months, the Rs.2000 note will be demonetised with a limited notice.
With very limited cash available in the market, the cash economy will be strangled to death.
Step 7 : As some of the cash economy will try to shift to Gold, Gold coins manufacturing and imports will be banned.
Step 8 : A Gold and Precious Jewellery control order will be issued which will allow only 500 gram of Gold per person and a certain value of other jewellery. Relaxation will be given for existing jewellery if declared to authorities as per format. After a certain date, all undeclared Gold and jewellery will be liable to be taken over by the state.
Step 9 : A Property and Asset Declaration order will be issued where all property (Land, Buildings and Flats) and shares will have to be declared to the authorities in a particular format. After a certain date, all undeclared property or shares will be liable to be taken over by the state.
That will complete the removal of black money from India.

Modi's one-time confidante and Amit Shah's mentor, Yatin Oza EX-BJP MLA from Gujarat writes to Modi:

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

15/11/2016
To,
Shri Narendra Modi,
Honble The Prime Minister of India,
7, Lok Kalyan Marg,
New Delhi.
Dear Narendra Bhai,
I hope this letter finds you in best of health and happiness.
On 8th of November 2016, after I heard your speech on demonetization, I was really very happy and from within complimented you for such a bold and historic step. Unfortunately, happiness did not last long. In the morning of 9th Nov, someone very near and dear informed me that yesterday i.e. on 8th Nov at around 12 in the afternoon wife of one of the leading industrialist of Ahmedabad in her presence came to a very leading jewellery shop and as per pre-order purchased gold worth 20 crores. Gold was ready and packed and it took two minutes to transfer gold and cash to each other. She was incidentally present at the shop buying pre ordered jewellery worth Rs. 5 lakhs. She is a doctor of a very high repute and eminence.
Having worked so closely with you and being a part of your kitchen cabinet at one point of time in past it immediately clicked to my mind that information of demonetization must have been conveyed well before announcement to your near and dear industrialist who in total controls 50% of black money of this country. Having spent whole day inquiring, thinking on the above lines the information that I gathered is shocking, by adhering to such a popularistic measure you have really befooled the people of this nation.
In fact your above move was to enrich your near and dear ones, your party and your party workers by apparently putting forward the national cause and interest. I have a video recording with me which will clearly and beyond reasonable doubt prove that all the near and close associates of Shri Amit Shah since 8th Nov till today are engaged into exchange business. There is a big queue outside their office and residence for conversion of black money into white at a discounted rate of 37%, people have queued up outside their office and residence. One has to go without identity with at least a sum of Rs. 1 Crore which will be counted by the employees and a bag containing Rs. 63 lakhs of valid denomination would be handed over. I could have easily parted with that video but as I know you, you will punish those standing in queue rather than booking those persons engaged in the business who are near and dear to Mr. Amit Shah. However, I will show the video to two or three senior journalists and intimate you about the same so that you can cross check and verify the genuineness of my statement from the journalists.
One who knows you would refuse to accept that the ban that you imposed on district co-operative banks yesterday was after you received an information that large scale irregularities and illegalities were committed at that level. Even your enemy would respect your ability, capacity and intelligence. One thing is certain that such an important aspect could not have been out of your mind. I for one knows very well that you will not act unless a complete blue print of your action is in your mind. All pros and cons of your action would very much be alive in your mind before you act. This in my respectful submission was permitted to be done in Gujarat because all district co-operative banks are controlled by people committed to BJP. These banks right from 9 PM on 8/11/2016 till 5 AM on 9/11/2016 exchanged Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes against smaller denomination. You had through RBI called for the details of exact cash with denominations from all banks of the country on 08/11/2016. You yourself get it verified the veracity of my above statement. I assure you that if I am proved wrong I will tender a public apology.
To weed out any doubt in the mind of people of India that sharks and whales have been let off and that your dear and near industrialists were intimated well in advance about demonetization, you should inform the people of India by disclosure on the official website of Government of India about disclosure of above 1 Crore. I am sure that not one chairman or MD or director of first 300 fortune companies of India would make a disclosure and if they dont than my allegations stands proved. I saw people hungry and thirsty standing in queue for Rs. 4000 and small deposits but I did not find a single Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volvo, Porsche or Range rover outside any bank or any owner of the said vehicle in a queue either for withdrawal or deposit of money. In your opinion possibly the black money was hoarded only by those people in queue either at the ATM or with bank but not with owners of vehicles mentioned above. The people of this country would also like to know that apart from those fortune 300 industrialists how much money builders, contractors more particularly contractors who have been awarded government contracts, miners who are more particularly involved in iron ore mining, other industrialists and above all politicians and bureaucrats have deposited the money. Unless the people of this country have the above information as to who has deposited what amount, the allegation that the hoarders of 50% of black money i.e. those 10-12 like industries have been blessed by you by prior intimation will stand proved. Moreover, at least poor and helpless people who have stood outside the bank in queue for petty amount would like to know what is the amount of deposit made by those 10-12 industries whom you allotted the land worth more than 1 lakh crores and who did not generate between themselves employment worth 7000 people. The publication of deposits on website would also throw light as to who are the persons who have deposited 300 to 400 crores and what action Income Tax department would take if they deposits either do not match with the return or known source of Income. I request you to also inquire the purchase of gold & diamonds sold on 7th and 8th before 8 PM and by whom. This will enable people to think as to why few top notch needed purchase of huge amount of gold and diamonds.
Be kind and gracious enough to share the aforesaid information on the official website of the government of India so that people of this country may judge whether demonetization is for larger good of the country or for the benefit directly to you, your loved ones and your party workers.
Sincerely yours
Yatin Oza

A Secret Has Been Uncovered: Cancer Is Not A Disease But Business!

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com

The word called cancer is a lie…You might not believe this but cancer is not a disease; it is a business.Cancer consists of only a deficiency of vitamin B17. It is nothing else.
Cancer has become widespread; it has affected the old, young, baby and everyone.Sharing this wonderful post will expose many of the hidden hands of the world’s manipulators and annoy them.Do you know that the book “World Without Cancer” has up till now been prevented from being translated into many world languages?
Know this: there is no disease called cancer. Cancer consists of only a deficiency of vitamin B17. It is nothing else.
Avoid chemotherapy, surgery and or taking medicines with strong side effects.
You would recall that in the past, quite a large number of seamen lost their life to a named disease (scurvy); a disease that took the life of numerous people as well. And a number of people got an enormous income from it. Afterwards, it was discovered that scurvy was just a deficiency of vitamin C. That means it wasn’t a disease (illness).

Cancer is also just like that! The colonizing world and the enemies of humanity established the cancer industry and made it into a business. from which they earn billions in income.

The cancer industry flourished after world war II. To fight cancer, all these delays, details and enormous expenditures are not needed. They only go to line the pockets of colonizers, especially since the cure for the condition was found long ago.

The prevention and cure of cancer will be obtained simply through the following strategies:

Those who have cancer should first try to know what cancer is. Do not panic! You should investigate the condition.

Nowadays does anyone die of an illness called scurvy? No. Because it gets cured.

Since cancer is only a deficiency of vitamin B17, eating 15 to 20 pieces of apricot stone/nucleus (fruit stone) everyday is enough.

Eat wheat bud (wheat sprouts). Wheat bud is a miraculous anti-cancer medicine. It is a rich source of liquid oxygen and the strongest anti-cancer matter named laetrile. This matter is present in the fruit stone of apple and is the extracted form of vitamin B17 (Amygdalin).

The American medicinal industry has started implementing the law forbidding laetrile production. This medicine is being manufactured in Mexico and gets smuggled into USA.

Dr. Harold W. Manner, in a book named “Death of Cancer” has stated that the success of cancer treatment with laetrile is as high as above 90%.

Sources of Amygdalin (Vitamin B17)

The foods containing vitamin B17 include the following:

-The fruit stone or grain(seed) of fruits. This contains the highest amount of vitamin B17 in nature. This includes fruit stone of apple, apricot, peach, pear, and prune (dried plum).

-Common beans, corns(grains), which include bean, lentil sprout (lentil bud) Lima (Lima beans) and pea.

-Kernels: Bitter Almond (Richest source of vitamin B-17 in nature) and Indian almond.

-Mulberries: almost all mulberries such as black mulberry, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry.

-Seeds (Grains): sesame and linseed (seed of linen/flax seed).

-Groats of oats, barley, brown rice, groats of block wheat, linseed, millet and rye.

This vitamin is found in grains and fruit stones of apricot, brewer’s yeast, rough rice (paddy) and sweetmeat pumpkin.

List of Anti-Cancer Foods
•Apricots (kernels/seeds)
•seeds from other fruits like apples, cherries, peaches, prunes, plums, pears
•Lima beans
•Fava beans
•Wheatgrass
•Almonds
•Raspberries
•Elderberries
•Strawberries
•Blackberries
•Blueberries
•Buckwheat
•Sorghum
•Barley
•Millet
•Cashews
•Macadamia nuts
•Bean sprouts
All are the highest sources of absorbable vitamin B17.

Ingesting dish washing liquids (used in the kitchen) and hand washing liquid (used in the restroom) is the main cancer causing factor so your eating of them should be restricted. You will surely say that we do not eat them!
However, you daily wash your hands with hand washing liquid and wash your plates with dish washing liquid. The liquid is absorbed and will not leave the plate with washing. When cooking or eating food, the soap in the plate or dish gets attached to the hot food and so we end up eating the dish washing liquid with our food. Even if you rinse the plate hundreds of times, that will be of no use.

But the solution is to pour half of the dishwashing liquid and hand washing liquid and top it up with vinegar.
It is as simple as that.Do not eat blood cancer causing agents and also save your family from this danger.Similarly, seriously desist from washing vegetables with even a few drops of dishwashing liquid because irrespective of how much you would rinse them, the chemicals would have already entered the tissues of the vegetable and will not get rinsed away.Instead, soak fruits and vegetables with salt and then rinse with water. And to keep them fresh, add vinegar.

Please share this post with others so they can also benefit from the information.

New blow for Dubai parents as Delhi Private School to close

426students left in limbo as they are being called for an assessment in order to transfer to a sister school.
AdTech Ad
Just days following the shock closure announcement of Delhi Private School Academy (DPSA) in Dubai, yet more fuel has been added to the fire as many of the 426 students left in limbo are now being called for an assessment in order to transfer to a sister school.
The move has left many parents up in arms.
On October 17, a meeting announcing the school's closure - which will take effect in March 2017 - sent shock waves through the DPSA family.
Although parents were given an option to enroll their children in two sister schools - DPS Sharjah and DPS Jebel Ali - the transition process is not proving as smooth-sailing as parents first thought.
"I received an email on October 20 from DPS Dubai asking my KG1 daughter to come forward for an assessment. That was a shock," Ujwal Kalpavraksh told Khaleej Times.
He questioned why this course of action was being subjected on parents.
"Why should parents endure such assessments? The closure is out of the parents hands and these are schools which are part of the DPS conglomerate," he said.
And it is a move which has left a bad taste in parents' mouths.
"Many are now thinking they may as well go somewhere else."
Khaleej Times did make contact with Dinesh Kothari, the pro vice-chairman of the school on Friday, but he said he did not want to comment on this issue.
Aside from the assessment requests, many parents are also dissatisfied with the alternative school suggestions as they only offer a CBSE curriculum.
"We moved my daughter to this school because we wanted her to study the ICSE curriculum. Now they come back with alternatives for transfer to a CBSE curriculum. It's not good enough," Lata Bhadra, parent of a Grade 9 student said.
Bhadra's daughter will now be starting JSS International on November 1.
Suspicious timing
Following the October 17 meeting, Bhadra was disgruntled by the timing of the announcement.
"They strategically planned this announcement so that parents would be forced to pay the school fees for November, even those withdrawing from the school immediately," she said.
According to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority's 'School Fees Framework' refund policy, if the student attends school "for a period ranging between two weeks and one month, two months' fees will be deducted".
"They announced the news more than two weeks into the month which is simply unethical in my opinion."
School management allegedly told the parents they had been discussing the possibility of closure for six months too, another factor which Kalpavraksh said "agitated parents". Paying around Dh36,000 annually for their daughters schooling, and more than Dh12,000 for the September to December term, the Bhadra's said they will fight to claw back the November tuition fees.
How are teachers affected? Founded in April 2013, DPSA currently boasts an 'acceptable' rating by the KHDA.
One teacher Khaleej Times spoke to said children in her class have "already left for other schools".
"Others are in the process of applying for admission too. It is very sad."
And for another teacher, whose child is also a DPSA student, it has been a double blow.
"I am now faced with the dilemma of looking for a new school for my child as well as a job for me."
DPSA is one of only four schools in Dubai offering the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), along with Gems Modern Academy (GMA), Ambassador School and JSS International School.
Closure should not affect school sentiment
The recent announcement of the upcoming closure of Delhi Private School Academy (DPSA) needs to be treated as an isolated case.
As the education sector continues to go from strength to strength in Dubai, this recent news may shake sentiments, but James Mullan of Which School Advisor told Khaleej Times there is no need to worry.
"I think they are particular circumstances around this school which need to be taken into account."
He said 80 per cent of schools in Dubai work on a "for profit" basis, but DPSA is one of few "not-for-profit" schools.
"Despite being not-for-profit, the school still needs to make some amount of money. But it clearly had some warning signs." With many factors adding to the reasons behind the school's closure, a 57 per cent teacher turnover (according to a KHDA report) is one that has had many talking, he said.
And the high school fees did little to disable the alarm bells too.
"The fee level for this type of Indian school was high. That didn't help its cause."
For the parents hesitant to shift their child to the alternative schools suggested by DPSA, Mullan said feedback from other schools regarding relocating students has been positive.
"Schools like Credence and Springdales have responded well and are offering to speak to parents looking at other options."

Which carbohydrate to eat ?

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

I have been asked many times about which
carbohydrates to take by people on low carbohydrate diet but are missing the grains so much that they are almost crazy 😁
So here are my suggestions:

1) take wholegrains. The best wholegrain rice in the market in my experience is EcoBrown Gold. The rice must be well soaked though in order to take care of the anti-nutrient phytate. It is unfortunate that the excellent Kedah's organic, tasty wholegrains called Sri Lovely is very hard to get.

2)Basmathi rice is quite good n healthy. Especially the long grains ones.

3)Steamed sweet potato is healthy  n has additional carotenes which will be turned in the body into Vitamin A.Healthiest n most nutritious if the skin is eaten together.

Explanation:
All the above sources of carbohydrates have low to moderate Glycaemic Index  (GI) as well as Glycaemic Load (GL).This means that eating them does not produce high spikes of Insulin as well as surging blood sugars which may eventually lead to a condition called Insulin Resistance which eventually may lead to Diabetes, among others. A serving of them also has less total  carbohydrates than some other carbohydrates, hence more consistent with the low carbohydrate diet.
Apart from that, they also contain resistant starch which will be slowly digested in the intestines while also acts as prebiotics to promote the growth of healthy and beneficial bacteria in the gut.
They also come with vitamins and minerals plus other nutrients. Therefore a moderate serving of anyone of them may be acceptable and healthy even for diabetics on low carbohydrate diet.

What not to take:

1) anything made of wheat
2) white rice
3) potato

Explanation:

Of all the three, wheat is the most problematic.White flour is a refined carbohydrate, meaning it will be turned into sugar very quickly in the mouth itself and will produce spikes of Insulin which eventually can lead to the development of Insulin Resistance plus its subsequent complications.
Apart from that is problem of the modern wheat itself: high content of Amylopectin B and gluten.
These 2 components of wheat make it unhealthy for most of us, more so for diabetics, even wholemeal wheat for that matter.
Amylopectin B is a type of carbohydrates with high Glycaemic Index, hence will produce high spikes of Insulin upon eating.
Modern wheat (modern wheat is the result of very  intensive breeding since the 70's) also contains high amount of Gluten which has been implicated in so many chronic diseases.
Autoimmune diseases,Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus,Leaky Gut,dementia etc r among the conditions that have been attributed to the wheat gluten. In fact many top scientists in the West have given up on the modern wheat and are constantly urging us to abandon wheat altogether as the less inflammatory and less problematic wheat is almost unavailable now.
Try Google n read the writings of Dr Perlmutter, the neurologist who has researched n written extensively on the adverse relationship between gluten and the brain, for example. Therefore the best policy is no wheat, whether white bread or otherwise.
I have met Australian doctors who don't take wheat based foods and who also advised others to do the same.It must be more difficult for them to do that in Australia compared to us doing that in Malaysia.
With respect to the white rice n potatoes  (usually whipped potato or fries ) ,they are usually processed and prepared in such a manner that they are served to us essentially as refined carbohydrates: high in Glycaemic Index, turns into sugar very quickly in the mouth itself and devoid of other nutrients, vitamins, minerals etc n therefore are unhealthy.
Best avoided if you are a diabetic or are preventing yourself from developing Diabetes.
Just for interest, consuming wheat is associated with protruding belly called Wheat Belly

Saudi nationals need special permission to marry foreigners

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

Manama: A Saudi man has to be between 40 and 65 years old to be able to marry a non-Saudi woman, and a Saudi woman has to be between 30 and 55 if she wants to take a non-Saudi husband, according to new rules.
Saudi nationals need special permissions to take non-Saudi spouses and the new requirements are on a 17-point list issued to govern the marriages of Saudis with foreigners, Saudi daily Al Eqtisadiya reported on Thursday.
Under the new rules, a Saudi man has to make at least 3,000 Saudi riyals (Dh2,935) a month and to have an adequate house or apartment to have his mixed marriage approved.
The woman that he wants to marry must be at least 25 years old and the age difference between the two spouses in all cases must not exceed 30 years.
If the applicant is divorced, at least two years should have passed following the separation before he applies to marry a foreigner, and in case he is married with a Saudi woman and wants a foreigner as a second wife, he must produce a certificate from a public or private hospital stating that his first wife is unable to assume all her marital responsibilities or is infertile. The certificate must be endorsed by the ministry of health.
The applicant must also sign a document stating that the approval of the marriage does not necessarily mean that his foreign wife would be granted the Saudi citizenship.
The rules for Saudi women planning to marry foreigners include a clause that stipulates that the age difference between them must not exceed 10 years.
The condition was set to ensure there is no exploitation of Saudi women, the daily said.
The only exception for the minimum age for the woman is the existence of a physical handicap or special needs, including being born to unknown parents.
In such cases, the minimum age is lowered from 30 to 27 and should be approved by the social affairs ministry.
A non-Saudi cannot take a Saudi wife if he is already married or if he had married a Saudi woman. He must also present a certificate showing that he has no criminal record in his country of origin and in Saudi Arabia.
He must also present evidence he is not suffering from any infectious or genetic diseases. He must not have been a member of the military in a foreign country, must not be on the lists of those banned from entering Saudi Arabia, must have a monthly salary of at least 5,000 Saudi Riyals and a valid residence permit and must possess an appropriate family residence.
He must not be stateless and must have a specific nationality and must prove it with a passport from his country that has at least another 12 months of validity. He must also clear all security checks to be carried out by the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi woman has to sign a statement that her marriage with a foreigner did not necessarily mean he or their children would have the right to be granted the Saudi citizenship.
The new regulations call for the establishment of a committee tasked with looking into all applications by Saudis to take foreign spouses.
The members should give their opinion on the request within one month of receiving the application.
Around one third of the 28 million people living in Saudi Arabia are foreigners, working mainly in the construction and service sectors.

Russia to sign anti-missile deal with India

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

Moscow/New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin will seal a deal with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an upcoming visit to deliver Moscow’s most advanced air defence system, the Kremlin said on Thursday.
“An agreement on the delivery of S-400 ‘Triumph’ anti-missile defence systems and other deals will be signed as a result of the talks,” Russian news agencies quoted Putin aide Yuri Ushakov as saying, without specifying a timeframe.
Putin will meet Modi in the Indian state of Goa on Saturday on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit involving the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The Kremlin earlier this week said the talks with Modi would focus on “a wide range of matters of bilateral relations, especially trade and economic ties.”
The S-400 is Russia’s most modern air defence system and has been deployed to Syria, where Moscow is conducting a bombing campaign in support of long-time ally Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.
The system can track some 300 targets and shoot down around three dozen simultaneously over a range of several hundred kilometres.
India has signed a series of key defence deals under Modi as part of a $100 billion (Dh367 billion) upgrade of its Soviet-era military hardware, making it an attractive proposition for arms exporters.
In September, after nearly a decade of discussions and setbacks, India signed a deal to acquire 36 French Rafale fighter jets for €7.9 billion (Dh32 billion) to bolster its military against an increasingly assertive China.
Meanwhile, Russia and India on Thursday signed an agreement to set up a network of integrated infrastructure for irradiation centres for food products, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) said.
An agreement to this effect was signed on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi by the United Innovation Corporation (UIC), a subsidiary of Rosatom, and the Indian Agricultural Association Hindustan Agro Co-Op Limited, a Rosatom statement said.
“Radiation treatment of food products is one of various applications of state-of-the-art radiation technologies offered by Rosatom to its foreign partners. The use of this technology will make it possible to reduce the loss of onions in India, which currently go bad because of germination and inadequate storage, by 42,000 tonnes per year on an average, as well as to reduce grain losses from 15 per cent to 3-5 per cent per year,” Denis Cherednichenko, CEO of the United Innovation Corporation, was quoted as saying in the statement.
“As of today, 22 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Finland, Japan, China, South Korea and India are using about 515 radiation plants based on Russian technologies,” he emphasised.
“Russia has a wide experience in this field; it has also been our reliable partner for a long time, and we hope that this project will not only make us closer to the solution of global problems in the sphere of sustainable development, but will also help India to become a centre of radiation technologies in the Asian region,” Bharat Dhokane Pandurang, Chairman, Hindustan Agro Co-Op. Ltd., was quoted as saying in the statement.
The first stage includes construction and commissioning of seven radiation treatment centres in India.

Indian rape survivor comic superhero takes on acid attacks

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

Mumbai: Two years after unveiling a comic about a rape survivor-turned-superhero who takes on her abusers, filmmaker Ram Devineni is using a sequel to highlight the acid attacks that maim and scar hundreds of women in India every year.
“Priya’s Shakti” was the first Indian comic book of its kind, using augmented reality technology to tell the story of a young rural woman who is gang-raped and consequently shamed by her family and community.
After praying to the Hindu goddess Parvati, Priya gains the strength, or “shakti”, to fight sex crimes, and flies around India on a tiger, helping other victims win justice.
In the sequel, “Priya’s Mirror”, the superhero holds up a mirror as she convinces acid-attack survivors that there is more to them than their scars, and that they need not hide.
“Priya is a flying superhero. For survivors of rape and acid attacks, to see characters like themselves being represented in art and pop culture is pretty cool,” said US-based Devineni, a creator of the “Priya” series.
“It’s an alternate narrative, and it’s a positive message, one that we hope will help change perceptions,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The comic was inspired by Laxmi, an Indian acid-attack survivor who has since become an activist and a fashion model.
It also draws on the experiences of real-life survivors from India and elsewhere, Devineni said.
“When I met some of these women, I was struck by the fact that they faced nearly the same kind of stigma and ostracism as rape survivors,” said Devineni, who was visiting India to launch the book at Comic Con in Mumbai.
“There is a lot of victim blaming, and in addition to the emotional trauma, acid-attack survivors also face tremendous physical trauma because of the disfiguration,” Devineni said.
Globally, as many as 1,500 acid attacks are recorded every year, with more than 1,000 cases estimated to occur in India alone. However, many attacks go unreported because victims are too afraid of reprisals from their abusers.
Most victims are women, who are blinded or disfigured by jilted partners or relatives.
Acid attacks became a specific offence in India in 2013 after the government strengthened gender violence laws following the fatal 2012 gang-rape of a young woman on a bus in New Delhi.
In a separate effort to raise awareness about the violence, another Indian acid-attack survivor walked the runway at New York Fashion Week last month to promote a ban on the sale of corrosive substances used to maim thousands of women.
“Priya’s Mirror” is the second in a five-book series created by Devineni, filmmaker Paromita Vohra and artist Dan Goldman.
The next comic will focus on sex trafficking, Devineni said.
He said the comic-book format and augmented reality features, including an interactive app which brings the characters alive, are key to getting the message across.
“We’re dealing with very difficult topics that tend to put people off, so comic books are a more accessible way to get their attention,” Devineni said.
“Plus, it’s a very relevant format for the audience we’re trying to reach: teenage boys. To challenge India’s patriarchal set-up, you have to start with teenage boys at a time when they are discovering sexuality and gender roles,” he said.

Exorcist tries rape as ‘cancer cure’, police say

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested an exorcist after he allegedly tried to rape a woman as a “cure” for cancer her husband has been suffering for long.
The hapless woman approached the man as her husband’s cancer had reached an advanced stage and she didn’t have enough money to admit him in the hospital for treatment.
The bizarre incident took place at Dasaunti village in Kaimur district, some 200km south-west of Patna, earlier this week.
Reports said the woman approached the exorcist identified as Dharmraj Gond, 60, after her husband’s condition turned serious. The man sought Rs20,000 to hold a special prayer that he claimed would “cure” her husband’s cancer. After a little bargain, the deal was settled for Rs15,000 after which the couple was asked to come at night for the special prayer.
According to the woman, when she reached the man’s house for the prayer at night, she was taken alone to a dark room around midnight and suddenly found the exorcist getting physical with her. She raised an alarm. Hearing her alarm, her relatives who were waiting outside the room caught the accused and informed the police who rushed to the spot and arrested him.
“We have arrested the accused and also recovered some human skulls from his possession,” a local senior police official Manoj Ram told the media on Thursday. Police said the initial investigation has revealed the accused had a criminal past and was in the business of cheating the victims of misfortune. The police registered a case of cheating, criminal conspiracy and molesting against the accused.

Patients in Abu Dhabi can contact their doctors 24/7 soon

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]
Public clinics will soon allow patients email access to physicians as part of a patient-centred care model

Abu Dhabi: Patients will soon be able to contact their physicians at Abu Dhabi’s public clinics 24 hours a day, a senior medical official said in the capital on Thursday.
Such close communication with doctors via email will allow patients to obtain laboratory reports, request appointments and even check on correct medication use, Dr Omar Al Jaberi, chief medical officer at Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), told Gulf News.
“The initiative, for which we are currently awaiting final approval, is part of a larger programme to provide patient-centred care, the Patient Centred Medical Home (PCMH) programme. The PCMH has been implemented across all clinics for nearly two years. During its pilot phase at three clinics, it led to a 20 per cent improvement on average in the management of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and asthma at the three clinics,” Dr Al Jaberi said.
“So now we are working to improve patient-physician trust, allow for care continuity and in essence, improve public health,” he added.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the second Abu Dhabi Ambulatory Healthcare International Congress, which kicked off here on Thursday. More than 2,000 medical professionals are expected to attend the three-day conference to discuss advances and challenges in primary care.
The congress is being organised by the AHS, which manages public clinics in the emirate and is a part of the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Services Company (Seha), public health-care provider.
The AHS currently operates 38 clinics, as well as 11 disease prevention and screening centres.
One of the key features of the PCMH initiative is providing continuity of care through a system where each patient is regularly followed up by a single primary care physician.
“What this means is that the physician is fully up to date with the patient’s condition, and is able to even alert her when preventive screenings, like mammograms or pap smears, become due. It also improves patient-physician trust, which, in turn, has improved compliance with treatment requirements,” said Dr Latifa Al Kitbi, chairperson of academic affairs at the AHS.
Since the implementation of PCMH, Dr Al Jaberi said that clinical outcomes had improved by about 70 per cent.
“What has really helped patients is that their primary care physicians work with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate overall well-being,” he said.
For example, if a patient experiences a stomach ache, the primary care physician looks into a variety of possible causes for it, including indigestion, heart disease and muscle health. In contrast, a patient might only get an antacid if they directly visit the gastroenterologist, which may not treat the underlying cause of the ache.
“We see a smaller proportion of patients visiting the emergency department now, and breast and cervical cancer screening uptake has also improved,” Dr Al Jaberi said.

13 killed in IS bombings near Baghdad mall

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]
BAGHDAD: Two bomb blasts outside a shopping mall in central Baghdad claimed by the Islamic State group killed at least 13 people, security and medical officials said on Saturday.

The bombings were the latest in a series of deadly attacks at Baghdad shopping centres this year that have been claimed by IS, including one that killed more than 300 people in early July.

The jihadist group issued an online statement on the attack, saying it targeted Shiites and was carried out by two Iraqi suicide bombers, one of whom wore an explosive belt and another who drove an explosives-rigged vehicle.

IS and other Sunni extremists consider Shiite Muslims to be heretics, and frequently target them in bombings.

The statement said the bomber who drove the explosives-rigged vehicle was from Fallujah, a city west of Baghdad that was retaken from IS in late June.

The blasts, which hit just before midnight (2100 GMT) Friday, shattered windows at the multi-storey Nakheel Mall on Palestine Street in the city centre, and damaged a fence surrounding it.

As people worked to clean up the rubble outside on Saturday, a private security company guarding the mall sought to prevent images being taken, seizing the cameras of two photographers and a video journalist.

The cameras were eventually returned, but video footage shot by an AFP photographer was deleted by the firm.

Nakheel Mall opened last year and shops were likely to have remained open late ahead of the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha which begins on Monday.

The mall also houses one of the city's most popular cinemas.

IS claims most major attacks in Baghdad, including some carried out at shopping centres earlier in the year.

Earthquake claims one of Italy’s most beautiful towns

IT WAS a small town but a proud one, sitting in the remote, mountainous terrain of central Italy.
It was famous for its Gothic churches filled with frescoes and mosaics and for an iconic pasta dish that drew tourists from across the world. Over centuries it endured conquests and wars, as well as a devastating earthquake some 400 years ago. Last year it was named one of Italy’s most beautiful towns.
But after Wednesday, when another terrible earthquake reduced its 14th century buildings and Roman ruins to rubble, the historic town of Amatrice is “no more”.

Amatrice, home to about 2000 people in the province of Rieti in Lazio, was one of three towns at the epicentre of the 6.2-magnitude earthquake and bore the brunt of its terrible force.
Of the 159 deaths confirmed so far, about 86 were in Amatrice. After the quake, all residents were ordered to leave what remained of the town.
The town clock in a magnificent 16th century bell tower — which is one of the few structures that remain standing — has been frozen in time at 3.36am, which was the moment the earthquake struck.

Half the facade of the 15th-century Basilica of Sant’Agostino has collapsed and the courtyard of a Renaissance palace has been transformed into a makeshift morgue.
“The town is no more,” Amatrice’s mayor Sergio Pirozzi told CNN affiliate Rai.
Aerial footage released by Italian state police showed large areas of the town flattened, with only some structures remaining. Houses built with unreinforced brick and concrete frame buildings had little ability to withstand earthquakes, the US Geological Survey said.

The earthquake struck when many visitors were arriving in Amatrice for an annual festival honouring pasta amatriciana — a dish made with pork jowl, tomatoes, white wine, chilli, pepper and pecorino cheese, which is perhaps what the town is best known for.
The dish is so popular it has been enshrined on an Italian stamp and is purportedly the reason why so many papal chefs hailed from Amatrice.
The festival that honours amatriciana has traditionally been held in the final Sunday of each August. That was this coming weekend.

The toughness of the Amatriciana people has been tested many times during the town’s long history. After the fall of the Roman empire, it was targeted by the Barbarians. In the 13th century, when it was part of the Kingdom of Naples, Charles of Anjou sent forces to Amatrice to brutally quash a local rebellion. The town battled with neighbouring towns over the centuries, and in 1529 it was badly damaged in an arson attack by the Spanish.
For tourists, the town is best known for the Basilica of Sant’Agostino, near the gate to the 14th-century city wall.

The church boasted a fine rose window and Gothic entrance door that dated to 1428, as well as statues of the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Annunciate.
That famous rose window was part of the facade that collapsed during Wednesday’s earthquake.
Due to the influx of visitors arriving in Amatrice for Sunday’s food festival, authorities are not yet sure how many people were in Amatrice when the quake struck.
About 70 were believed to be staying in the Hotel Roma, a town landmark that serves the famous pasta dish. Rescue crews pulled five bodies from the rubble of the hotel but had to halt rescue operations at night when conditions became too dangerous in the dark.

Elsewhere, rescuers with sniffer dogs worked through the night to search for people trapped under rubble in houses. At a four-storey apartment complex, two top floors appeared to be intact but the second floor lost its exterior walls, exposing a brass bed perched precariously in a child’s room, AFP reported.
At a convent devastated by the quake, sniffer dogs searched for seven women — four elderly women who had been spending their summer holiday in Amatrice, and the three nuns who were caring for them.

“The aim now is to save as many lives as possible,” the mayor, Sergio Pirozzi said.
“There are voices under the rubble, we have to save the people there.”
Pope Francis, who lead a vigil in St Peter’s Square in the Vatican for victims of the earthquake, paid special tribute to the people of Amatrice.
“Hearing the mayor of Amatrice say that the town no longer exists, and learning that there are children among the dead, I am deeply saddened,” he said.
As well as Amatrice, the nearby hilltop towns of Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto were left in ruins by the earthquake, which could be felt 140km away in Rome.

Offers of help have flooded in from other European allies and Italians have taken to social media to share their stories and offer solidarity with victims under the hashtags #terremoto and #PrayforItaly.
The Australian embassy in Rome is working to determine whether any Australians were involved and have urged those trying to find information to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs’ 24-hour centre.

British Muslim siblings kicked off EasyJet flight after passenger complains they are terrorists

A BRITISH airline has been accused of racial profiling after kicking three Muslim siblings off a flight from London to Italy under suspicion of terrorism.
Maryam, Sakina and Ali Dharas were on their way to Naples for a holiday on August 18 on board an EasyJet flight from Stansted Airport when they were approached by a member of the cabin crew.
The siblings said they were met by armed police officers on the ground, who asked them if they speak English.
Sakina told them they only spoke English having been born and raised in London.
She was then informed another passenger reported seeing them with Arabic text or "praise be to Allah” on their phones and had accused them of being IS supporters.
“If me and my sister weren’t wearing headscarves none of this would’ve happened, we wouldn’t be in this situation right now,” Maryam said in an interview with Channel 4 News.
“It’s a formidable sight seeing armed policemen waiting for you at the bottom.
“Apparently the pair of us two had been reading ISIS material.”
She says they were in fact reading a Whatsapp conversation.
“I showed the time stamps on my phone. Me and my dad were talking about which left-wing leader Jeremy Corbyn most resembled from the past.
“So unless being left wing is a crime, that is literally the only offence I could have committed that morning.”
Maryam said no apology was given.
“We were humiliated. We were embarrassed. We were treated like criminals. Dragged off a flight in front of everyone,” she said.
“The fact that this can happen to us is really worrying, it really is”.
Ali said he wasn’t questioned as much as his sisters.
EasyJet has released a statement saying it acted on the passenger’s fear as a “precautionary measure”.

“Maybe I don’t fit the sort of profile they were looking for because I don’t look typically Muslim,” he said.
“Because my sisters wear scarves, it’s easy for them to be profiled like that.”
The family isn’t even Arabic. Their ethnic origin is Indian.
In statement, Essex Police said they were contacted with reports of concern regarding the behaviour of three people who were looking at their mobile phones .
“(Officers) were quickly able to establish that no offences had been committed and the women boarded their flight. We are satisfied the call was of good intent.”
EasyJet also released a statement in which it defended its actions.
“The safety and security of its passengers and crew is our highest priority which means that if a security concern is raised we will always investigate it as a precautionary measure. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to the passengers”.

Should the South China Sea be given a new name?

________ A to Z kerala .......... [kvk] [www.atozkerala.in , www.atozkerala.blogspot.com]

INDONESIA has proposed a provocative point of action in the South China Sea.
The country wants to change the name of the area, as it’s referred to in English, to see ‘China’ removed from the title.
Last week, in a bid to assert its sovereignty, Indonesia proposed renaming the disputed area to the ‘Natuna Sea’ in the area within 200 nautical miles (or 370km) of its Natuna Islands.
Ahmad Santosa, the Chief of Task Force 115, an agency which works to combat illegal fishing, was quoted saying “If no one objects… then it will be officially the Natuna Sea.”
The mayor of Natuna Islands, Hamid Rizal, said the change would help people understand that that section of the sea was Indonesia’s property, to help define and fight illegal and unregulated activity in the area.
It’s certainly not the first country to voice objection to the name of the area.
In 2012, the Philippines had part of the South China Sea officially renamed in their favour, deeming the waters within its Exclusive Economic Zone the ‘West Philippine Sea’.
Vietnam has called this same waterway the ‘East Sea’ based on their own geographic relevance to the disputed area.
But ultimately, ‘South China Sea’ is the dominant English term for the area, and this is where the other countries involved in the dispute take objection.
Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan and the Philippines all believe the term implies inherent ownership of the area.
And China would agree. Last year, at a defense conference in London, Chinese Vice Admiral Yuan Yubai even said: “The South China Sea, as the name indicates, is a sea area that belongs to China”.

In a research paper released earlier this year, Ellen Frost, a senior adviser at the East-West Centre, suggested changing the name to “South Sea”.
She says changing the name to “South-east Asia Sea” would be met with “intense resistance” from China, but simply dropping the nation’s name from the terminology might work — although it was just a symbol of the bigger issue.
“In the context of a wider settlement, renaming the South China Sea would be timely, but a new and widely accepted name — perhaps the “South Sea” — would signal a small, seemingly technical, but meaningful contribution to peace,” she wrote.
The problem here is that China already refers to the disputed area as the ‘South Sea’ in its language. Given the area sits south of China, one could argue changing the name to ‘South Sea’ would only fortify its claims to the area.

In an opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal, Hong Kong-based journalist Philip Bowring suggests giving the land mass the more neutral term ‘Middle Sea’.
“We have a name that implies to many, not least in Beijing, that the ‘South China Sea’ is somehow Chinese, even though China (even including Taiwan) occupies at most 30 per cent of its coastline,” he writes.
“How about borrowing from the Mediterranean — meaning between the lands — and instead calling it the Middle Sea,” a neutral name for waters lying north, south, east and west of the littoral states? That convenient name could translate easily into all languages.”
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte says he expects talks with China on the dispute to take place “within the year”.
Duterte said he prefers to engage China in a diplomatic dialogue rather than take a more aggressive stance that could anger Chinese officials into calling off possible talks.
