TP murder: CPM leadership in crisis as party workers call quits

Kozhikode: Protest is looming large within the CPM after the murder of TP Chandrasekharan and the party leadership is in a spot trying to convince party workers that the party has no hand in the murder.
Protests were registered from party villages too. In many parts of Kozhikode district, party workers are planning to quit the party. In Onchiyam, two CPM activists have joined RMP.
K Subair and VK Ajeesh resigned from CPM. Ajeesh had worked as SFI district joint secretary, DYFI Cherodu region secretary, block committee member and CPM Cherodu local committee member. At present he is a CPM branch member,
K Subair acted as DYFI Onchiyam block committee member. Subair said as many as 10 people will join RMP from CPM. At the same time it is also reported that a secret meeting has been called by the CPM and DYFI activists, who owe allegiance to TP and who believe that CPM has a hand in the murder. Many reached TP's home and expressed their support.
Many of the activists have decided to quit party if it is proved that CPM is behind the murder.

Venjaramoodu: A pedestrian died after being hit by the car of minister Anoop Jacob at MC road on Thursday. Abdul Kareem, 72, from Perumkoor, Vembayam, was the deceased. The accident happened at 8.40 pm near the Perumkoor maveli store. He left home and was walking on the road when the minister's car hit him. The minister was on his way to Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram. 
Though the minister tried to take him to a hospital in his car itself, natives blocked Anoop and shifted the victim to the medical college in an ambulance. The Minister continued his journey in IG Parvesh Sahib's car and his car was shifted to Vattappara police station.
Asmabi is Kareem's wife and Naser, Hakim and Sumayya are children.

Noorbina Rashwed, who visited TP Vadakara: Women's commission chairperson KC Rosakutty and member adv Chandrasekharan's family on Thursday, said they will appear as party in the murder case. They said they are satisfied with the way the probe is heading . But they are also monitoring the probe. KC Rosakutty said the commission has the right to be a party to the case.
They also asked the CM to provide police protection for Rama and her son Abhinand. Thecommission would extend all help to the family .

Noorbina Rashwed, who visited TP Vadakara: Women's commission chairperson KC Rosakutty and member adv Chandrasekharan's family on Thursday, said they will appear as party in the murder case. They said they are satisfied with the way the probe is heading . But they are also monitoring the probe. KC Rosakutty said the commission has the right to be a party to the case.
They also asked the CM to provide police protection for Rama and her son Abhinand. The commission would extend all help to the family . 

Tobacco sales near schools: Distance limit down to 100 meters

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has withdrawn the directive banning tobacco products sale and pan masala within 400-meter area surrounding schools. The move to withdraw this was based on the complaint filed by Vyapari Vyavsayi Ekopana Samithi pointing that the directive was against central rule.
With this the distance limit proposed by the central rule would be up to 100 yards (90 meters), that is applicable in Kerala too.
But at the same time chief minister Oommen Chandy decided to ask the centre to amend the rule. 
In Kerala there are plenty of such shops and bringing down the distance will adversely affect the protest going on against this. 
As students buying tobacco products rose there were rising complaints and the cabinet decided to increase the limit. The LSGs were given right in 2011 to do the needful . 
But when Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi filed a complaint against it, the law ministry examined the rule and stated that the state decision won't stand.

Kozhikode: It is learnt that the police have received crucial clues in the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan. Reports stated that police have traced the car in which the gang of attackers traveled but denied divulging more information. Police began a probe on the last phone call received by him. 

Chandrasekharan after visiting a wedding house was on his way back home on his bike. On getting a phone call, he opted another way instead of the usual one. 

The phone message stated that there was some issues near Vallikodu League house and asked him to come soon. 
A meeting of higher police officials was held and Home minister said that Vincent M Paul would lead the probe. 

UDF hartal begins
Thiruvananthapuram: The UDF hartal which was called to condone the death of T P Chandrasekharan began here on Saturday morning. According to reports, the hartal is by and large peaceful except in some places where vehicles were blocked.
Vehicular traffic will not be disrupted, according to party sources.

Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convenor Vaikom Viswam said here on Saturday that the CPM is not behind the death of T P Chandrasekharan. He also demanded a fair probe into the incident.
He also made it clear that the CPM is not involved in the attack and it was a conspiracy to tarnish the party's image.
