UDF unmindful of Prashant Babu's statement: M M Mani

Idukki: CPM former Idukki secretary M M Mani said that the Oommen Chandy govt is pretending ignorance of the recent revelations made by Prasanth Babu, a bank employee and the driver of Sudhakaran.
Mani also alleged that Chandy's approach speaks of double standard as the UDF govt had created unwanted row with his speech and now are trying to pooh pooh this.

Kannur block Congress General Secretary Prasanth Babu has said KPCC General Secretary and MP K Sudhakaran had conspired to kill CPI(M) Central Committee member E P Jayarajan in 1996.
Prasanth Babu, a bank employee and the driver of Sudhakaran, disclosed this to some television channels.
He also stated that Sudhakaran arranged quotation gangs from Ernakulam in the attack that took place in Savoury hotel at Kannur town, in which one CPI(M) worker, K Nanu, was killed in a bomb blast on June 13, 1992.
Sudhakaran was also behind the attack against the co-operative press in Kannur town, which injured one Prasanth, an employee of the press, Prasanth Babu disclosed

Kerala Muslim Jama-Ath march to Parliament on July 10

Kochi : Kerala Muslim Jama-Ath Council today said that they would march to Parliament on July 10 demanding various things, including re-drafting the Haj policy, to save the hajees from exploitation by Haj rackets.
Talking to reporters here, Jama-ath Council State General Secretary Adv A Pookunju said the march would begin from Kerala House and later culminate into a dharna near Jandar Mandir.

Various Muslim leaders, human right activists and religious leaders would take part in the march, he added.
The other demand include approval of Justice Ranganatha Mishra Commission without losing the benefit of SC and ST categories and also inclusion of Muslim community in the OBC category, restarting shipping service for Haj in order to decrease the travelling expense of hajees and regaining the wakf assets besides ensuring social justice to bring the Muslims to the main stream of the society.
After that a memorandum would be submitted to union ministers, he added. (UNI)

Al Qaeda plotting to bomb US plane: Report

London: Al Qaeda is plotting a terrorist attack on a US airliner, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper reported, citing intelligence sources.
The broadsheet said Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) had recruited a Norwegian Muslim convert and given him terrorist training in Yemen, and that the group were believed to have selected a US passenger jet as a target.

'The Norwegian recruit goes under the Islamic name of Muslim Abu Abdurrahman,' the newspaper said.
'He is understood to be in his thirties and a 'clean skin', with no previous criminal record. He converted in 2008 and quickly became radicalised.

'He later travelled to Yemen, where he has spent several months, to complete his training.'
The CIA foiled a similar AQAP plot to blow up a US-bound airliner in May, reportedly using a double agent who infiltrated the group and volunteered for the suicide attack.

AQAP has been linked to the 2009 Christmas plot in which a bomb hidden in a Nigerian attacker's underwear failed to detonate on a plane bound for Detroit.
It is also suspected of having a hand in a 2010 attempt to blow up cargo planes heading to the United States with explosives concealed in printer cartridges.AFP

London: Al Qaeda is plotting a terrorist attack on a US airliner, Britain's Sunday Times newspaper reported, citing intelligence sources.
