K Ajitha says with murder of TP , she lost relation with LDF

Vadakara: Social activist K Ajiltha said that with the murder of TP Chandrasekharan, she had lost her relation with LDF. She was speaking in solidarity meet organized after handing over the money collected by TPs friends to Rama.
She said it couldn't be forgiven. She said till now she gave vote for LDF, but nowadays they are proceeding with anti people policies. In opposite front too the same is the situation. So the people are longing for parallel party to LDF.

Mars rover Curiosity lands on surface of Red Planet

CALIFORNIA: The Mars science rover Curiosity landed on the Martian surface shortly after 10.30pm Pacific time on Sunday (1.30am EDT Monday/0530 GMT) to begin a two-year mission seeking evidence the Red Planet once hosted ingredients for life, Nasa said.

Mission controllers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Los Angeles said they received signals relayed by a Martian orbiter confirming that the rover had survived a make-or-break descent and landing attempt to touch down as planned inside a vast impact crater. Nasa has described the feat as perhaps the most complex ever in robotic spaceflight.

The $2.5 billion Curiosity project, formally called the Mars Science Laboratory, is Nasa's first astrobiology mission since the 1970s-era Viking probes. The landing, a major victory for a U.S. space agency beleaguered by budget cuts and the recent loss of its space shuttle program, was greeted with raucous applause and tears of joy by jubilant engineers and scientists at mission control. First Kudankulam unit likely to be commissioned next month’.
New Delhi: The Kudankulam atomic power project is expected to be commissioned in September, capping months of delays due to non-availability of equipment and anti-nuclear protests.

India's nuclear regulator is inspecting the first 1,000 MW unit of the nearly Rs 16,000 crore project, being developed with Russian collaboration, and is expected to give its report in the next few days.

"We expect to load fuel assemblies into the reactor some time in mid-August," Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Ratan Kumar Sinha told said here.

He said the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board was carrying out inspection of the reactor pressure vessel after which it would grant the permission to load 163 fuel assemblies.

Each assembly is 4.57 metres long and comprises fuel bundles. The two 1,000 MW Russian reactors will use enriched uranium as fuel and light water as coolant and moderator.

"We expect the first unit to be commissioned by September," Sinha said. The second unit may take another six months to attain criticality.

The cost of the Kudankulam project has shot up by nearly Rs 2,700 crore on account of various kinds of delays, including delivery schedule of certain components from Russia and the protests in Kudankulam against the plant.

As per the original plan, the first unit was to be commissioned in December 2007, which was revised to mid-2010. This was further revised to September 2011 when work came to a standstill as villagers launched anti-nuclear protests fearing an accident. The protests were called off in March..
