Rift in Kerala ruling coalition deepens
Kozhikode : Rift among the partners in the ruling United Democratic Front(UDF) in Kerala sharpened with their leaders making allegations over allocaton of an additional ministerial berth to Indian Union Muslim League(IUML)posing a grave threat to the smooth functioning of the coalition government.
Talking to newspersons here Congress spokesman M M Hassan said it would be difficult for the party to head the conglomeration by succubming to pressures from the IUML leaders, who have even threatened to pull out of the coalition.
'The Congress would find it difficult to lead the coalition by mortgaging its self respect,' he said, apparently referring to statement of IUML State General Secretary K P A Majeed that his party would consider quitting the coalition in the wake of disparaging remarks by Congress leaders since the recent induction of party leader Majalamkuzhi Ali in the cabinet.
