KOZHIKODE: Normal life was
partially affected in politically sensitive Kozhikode following a hartal called
by the CPI (M) in protest against the arrest of senior leader P Mohanan in
connection with the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan.
Private buses, the main source transportation in the district, were off the roads due to the dawn-to-dusk hartal, prompting people to stay indoors. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions were closed and offices reported thin attendance in the absence of transport
