Kannur: Prohibitory orders were on Wednesday clamped in the district following violent incidents involving CPM activists who were protesting against the arrest of senior party leader Jayarajan.

CPM activists took out protest marches to the various Circle Inspector offices in the district. The activists also pelted stones against CI offices in Iritti and Koothuparamba.

Police had to resort to lobbing of tear gas shells after CPM activists attacked shops in front of the magistrate's court in Kannur..
