Vellayil port gets central approval

Kozhikode: MK Raghvan MP informed that the central government has given approval to convert Vellayil fishing centre into a port. The decision was taken in the meeting of the project sanctioning committee of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries department under the ministry of Agriculture, which was held here on Thursday. 

The expected cost is Rs 39.3 crore in which the central government share will be 75% and state 25%. The central government has already allotted Rs 3 crore which will be utilized for basic infrastructure development. The construction would be completed within 4 years.
