Thiruvananthapuram: Justice JB Koshy, chairman of state human rights commission, has registered a case relating to the absence of lock ups in 46 police stations in the state. The home secretary and state police head must submit a report after holding a probe within October 30. In such a station, the culprits are either handcuffed or tied to a desk. The action was taken on the basis of a complaint by KJ Jose Prakash. There are as many as 500 police stations in Kerala and the stations with more number of lock ups are in Thiruvananthapuram.
The complainant alleged there are no records in the office of state police head on this. For his RTI query, the explanation was that no details were available.
