Even as the four accused in the savage December 16 Delhi gang-rape
case have been convicted and a court is hearing arguments to decide the quantum
of sentence, horrific news of gang-rape came from Odisha and Uttar Pradesh on
Wednesday.
A 17-year-old girl was abducted on September 6 from her home at Bindhanima village, 100 km from state capital Bhubaneswar. The men kept her in an abandoned hut, where four others joined them and all six of them raped her for three days. The police arrested two accused in the case after the victim escaped with the help of some villagers and lodged a complaint on Tuesday. 'We have arrested two of the attackers. Efforts are on to nab the four others,' a police official said.
Meanwhile in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria, 336 km from state capital Lucknow, a woman was allegedly gangraped by three persons in Rampur Karkhana area.
The woman is an employee of the health department. The police have lodged a case. Outraged by the diabolical gang-rape of a physiotherapy student on a moving bus in Delhi late last year, people have come out on streets to demand security for women.
