Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old partially blind girl, an intermediate student, was raped by an autorickshaw driver here on Friday. The accused Harishanker, who hails from Kaladi, has been taken into custody. The girl boarded the autorickshaw near Thampanoor bus stand. She claimed that on discovering that she was partially blind, the auto driver took her to an isolated area near the medical college and sexually assaulted her.
She also said that he thereafter tried to take her along with him to a lodge, but the people in the area noticed that there was something wrong and took the girl to the medical college police station where she briefed the police about the incident. A police case has been filed and the girl has undergone a medical test.
