Ranni: The Kerala police team probing the disappearance of Jesna Maria James has rushed to Bengaluru after a tip-off that a woman similar to the missing college girl was sighted at the airport in the Karnataka capital with another person.
It was a native of Kanjirapally who claimed to have seen Jesna at the airport. CCTV visuals at the airport could confirm if the claim was right. Airport records would be checked to ascertain if she had taken a flight. The police team led by Vechoochira sub-inspector Dinesh Kumar would examine the visuals and the documents.
The police have been to many places both within and outside Kerala after reported sightings, but all those efforts were futile.
The police had been to Bengaluru earlier too after claims that she was spotted there. They had then examined CCTV visuals and confirmed that a young woman seen in the visuals was not Jesna. The latest information is that someone resembling her was spotted at three places, including at the Bengaluru airport.
Jesna, a second year BCom student from Pathanamthitta, went missing on March 22 while she was on her way to her aunt's house in Kottayam.
Jesna's disappearance led to protests by many groups in the state, demanding a detailed probe into the case and an SIT has been formed to expedite the probe.
The Kerala police had earlier received information that the missing college student was spotted with another girl by a few visitors to the Kottakunnu Tourism Park at Malappuram on May 3. However, there were no further leads. There were also reports of Jesna being spotted in Chennai, but a probe in the Tamil Nadu capital too did not yield any results.
