KOCHI: One of the accused in the murder case of Abhimanyu, SFI leader
of Maharajas College, who has gone underground is suspected to have
connection in the hand chopping case.
However, the police have not revealed more details on it. A probe is progressing on those present in the court premises on the day the verdict in the hand chopping case was pronounced. The police is planning to collect the CCTV clippings of the court premises. The police has intensified search for the two youths, natives of Nettoor, acquitted in the hand chopping case. It has been hinted that the two had gone underground after the death of Abhimanyu. The police has extended their search outside Kerala in places like Bengaluru, Kudagu and Mysuru to nab those hiding. The probe is being carried by eight teams.
Meantime, two more persons have been arrested in the case. The arrest of Nawaz and Jeffrin taken into custody yesterday have been registered. With this, the total number of persons arrested in the case has risen to six. Farooq (19) of Pathanamthitta, Bilal (19) of Kottayam, Riyaz of Fort Kochi, Saifudeen (27) of Nettoor were arrested earlier. They have been taken in police custody for more interrogation. Police sources said Nawaz and Jeffrin have links with SDPI and Campus Front. An investigation conducted has found that these two helped the accused to flee the place soon after committing the murder. The police have not exposed more details of the accused. Six persons directly involved in the murder are natives of Nettoor in Ernakulam.
