Sabarimala thantri should also abide by SC order: Devaswom board member

Das said he disapproved of Thantri Kandararu Rajeevararu’s stand that the door of the temple will be closed if traditions are breached. He alleged that parikarmis’ (assistant priests) protest had spoiled the sanctity of the temple. “The thantri need not obey what Royal family members of Pandalam palace says. Sabarimala temple is not a place where thantri can close the door and go away whenever he wishes. Parikarmis have been appointed to help the chief priest.” Meanwhile, Das said that there was conspirancy behind Rahna Fathima’s visit to Sabarimala. “The Supreme Court will be apprised of the state of affairs of Sabarimala and the door of consensus are still open,” he said. However, Malikappuram chief priest Aneesh Namboothri has supported the thantri’s statement, saying that there was nothing wrong in what he had said.
