A student studying abroad in Switzerland observes the country in Switzerland:

While studying in Switzerland, I rented a house near the school. The landlord Kristina is a 67-year-old single old lady who worked as a teacher in a secondary school before she retired. Switzerland's pension is very rich, enough not to make her worry about eating and drinking in her later years. However, it is puzzling that she actually found a "work" - to take care of an 87-year-old single old man. I asked if she was working for money. Her answer surprised me: “I did not work for money, but I put my time in the ‘time bank’, and when I couldn’t move at old age, I could withdraw it.”
The first time I heard about the concept of "time bank", I was very curious and asked the landlord thoroughly. The original “Time Bank” was an old-age pension program developed by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Social Security. People saved the time of taking care of the elderly when they were young, and waited until they were old, ill or needed care. Applicants must be healthy, good at communicating and full of love. Every day they have plenty of time to look after the elderly who need help. Their service hours will be deposited into the personal accounts of the social security system. She went to work twice a week, spending two hours each time, to help the elderly shopping, finishing the room, taking the elderly out to sunbathe, chatting with the elderly. According to the agreement, after one year of her service expiry, “Time Bank” will count out her working hours and issue her a “time bank card”. When she needs someone to take care of her, she can use her “time bank card” to “time bank” to withdraw “time and time interest”. After the information verification is passed, “Time Bank” will assign volunteers to take care of her to the hospital or her home. .
One day, I was in school and the landlady called and said she fell off the stool when she wiped the window. I quickly took leave and sent her to the hospital for treatment. The landlady broke her ankle and needed to stay in bed for a while. While I was preparing to apply for a holiday home to take care of her, the landlady told me that I did not have to worry about her. She had already submitted a withdrawal request to the “Time Bank”. Sure enough, less than two hours, "Time Bank" sent a nursing worker to come to care for the landlord. In the following month, the care worker took care of the landlord every day, chatted with her and made delicious meals for her. Under the meticulous care of the carer, the landlady soon recovered to health. After recovering, the landlady went back to "work".  She said that she intends to save time in the "time bank" when she is still healthy, and wait until she can't move.
Today, in Switzerland, the use of "time banks" to support old age has become a common practice. This not only saves the country pension expenses, but also solves some other social problems. Many Swiss citizens are very supportive of this kind of old-age pensions. The survey conducted by the Swiss pension organization shows that more than half of Swiss young people also want to participate in this type of old-age care service. The Swiss government also specializes in legislation to support the "Time Bank" pension.

KOCHI: Women in Cinema Collective, the women’s collective in Malayalam cinema, has vehemently come out against the decision of Kochi-based cinema organisation AMMA to take back actor Dileep in it. On their Facebook page, the WCC has clarified its stand under the title – We want to ask AMMA certain things.
 

Why did AMMA expel Dileep if their idea was to take him back? A person accused of more or less rape has been taken back when the trial is still pending. Through this, has not AMMA humiliated the member who has survived the atrocity against her, WCC asks.
 

 As a democratic organisation, what message will it send to society through the current decision? Is it not a challenge to India’s justice system? We condemn your decision, which is totally misogyny. WCC is with her,” the FB post says.

Fish preserved in formalin seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major haul, 6,000 kg of fish, preserved in toxic chemical formalin, was seized at the border check post of Walayar in Palakkad.
The state Food Safety department officials foiled the attempt to ferry the chemical-mixed fish from Andhra Pradesh during a raid carried out as part of the 'Operation Sagar Rani,' a drive launched to ensure safety and hygiene at fish handling and distribution centres.
As many as 6000 kg of prawns, brought in 45 lorries was found mixed with formalin, officials said.
Last week, 12,000 kg of toxic fish, containing formalin, was confiscated during raids in the state.
Formalin is used to preserve dead bodies and prevent its decay in mortuaries.
The widespread use of the deadly chemical now-a-days in preservation of fish, fruit and other food items is posing a great threat to public health.
According to Food Safety official, the presence of Formalin was detected during the preliminary examination carried out using paper strips, developed by the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology.
Later, the complete fish load was sent to the chemical laboratory in Ernakulam district for further examination, they said.
A 15-member-team of Food Safety officials from Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Palakkad, led by joint food safety commissioner, carried out the raid.
The Food Safety Department recently intensified raids at the border check posts, with special focus on fish stock arriving from other states, following a directive from the Health Minister K K Shailaja in this regard.
The minister had warned of stringent legal action against those who bring or sell chemically contaminated fish.
The officials had seized a total of 12,000 kg of toxic fish, in two different raids in the state, last week.
Of this, 6000 kg of fish, mixed with formalin, was confiscated from Amaravila check post near here, while the rest was taken into custody from Walayar, they said.
In view of frequent seizure of chemically contaminated fish, state Food Safety Commissioner, M G Rajamanickam issued orders

Kerala's 4th international airport at Kannur to open in September

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu on Saturday, following a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, announced the opening of the Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL) in September.   Vijayan had met Prabhu in the morning along with his team of officials to discuss the finalisation of the Rs 1,892 crore-airport located at Mattanur, near Kannur, fast nearing completion in 2,000 acres of land.   "I have asked the Chief Minister to see that he posts someone in Delhi to follow-up on things connected with the Kannur airport. "I have also asked my officials to see that everything goes forward and the airport can open in September," said Prabhu to the media in Delhi soon after the meeting.   With this, Kerala will be the only state in the country to have four international airports with the others at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode.   The Kerala government has 35 per cent stakes, 25 per cent by public sector undertakings, 10 per cent with the Airport Authority of India and the remaining 30 per cent is with Cooperatives, banks and individual shareholders.   The first trial operation took place in February 2016, when an Indian Air Force aircraft landed for the first time at the airport and was received by then Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.   Once completed the apron of the airport will have parking bays for 14 Code E aircraft or 20 Code C aircraft.   The airport will be able to handle at a time 2,000 passengers and it is anticipated that KIAL will serve more than 1.5 million international passengers annually, besides changing the face of north Kerala with tourism and business activities especially handloom, textiles and floriculture.   This airport will start off with a runway of 3,050 metres and in another 18 months after it opens, it will see its runway length increase to 3,400 metres and eventually it will touch 4,000 metres, making it one of the four biggest airports in the country, an official said.

WhatsApp Business service has been an instant hit for the Facebook-owned company as it garnered over three million active users in less than three months of launch. But the features are very limited at the moment, but WhatsApp is working so hard on some exclusive features to its Business application. WhatsApp is working on a massive feature for its Business users with which they can showcase their products in an online catalogue very soon. Going by a tweet posted by WhatsApp watcher, WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform will be soon adding the online catalogue feature to the Business application. Besides this, there are not many details available regarding the feature.

However, the tweet by WABetaInfo also includes an image, which gives a glimpse at how Businesses can display the catalogue. WhatsApp will allow them to add the Title, Description, Link and Stock Keeping Unit of the product. Out of the four, title and description of the products will be mandatory while the other two are optional.

There’s no info on when the feature will be rolling out to the WhatsApp Businessapplication and there’s no info provided by WABetaInfo as well.

     When the gentleman  was 45 years old his wife suddenly passed away.....
His relatives and friends advised him to remarry and settle down.

Son grows up...gets married in grand style and the father handed over his well established business to his son and retired.

After a year or so the father had his breakfast a bit early one morning

After starting his breakfast he requested his daughter in law for  curd ......if it was there

His daughter in law said there was no  curd....this was heard by his son...who was entering the dining area for breakfast.

After the father had his breakfast the son and his wife sat down to have breakfast....on the breakfast table there was a bowl of curd.
After having his breakfast and with no comments, the son also left home for office. That day and night the son pondered over curd matter.

Next day the son requested his father to accompany him to the court  to get married.
His father told him "I do not need a second marriage at this age and I give you all the love, you do not need a mother.
What is the use of the second marriage ?"

The son replied him politely...father I am not getting a mother for myself or a wife for you....i am only trying my best so that you get your bowl of curd everyday.
From tomorrow me and my wife will move to a rented apartment and I shall work in your office as a worker who will be paid wages,so that your daughter in law knows the Value of a bowl of curd.

What is Nipah Virus ?

Q : What is Nipah Virus ?

A : Nipah virus was initially discovered when it caused an outbreak of brain fever among pig farmers in Malaysia.


Q : Should I be worried ?

A :  A little. As it is transmitted from person to person and there is no effective antiviral therapy for this infection .

Q : Who is at high risk ? How is it transmitted ?

A : 1. People working with pigs and consuming pigs.

2. Farmers who come in contact with bats.

3. Consuming Fruits which are already bitten by bat.

4. Contact with people who already have Nipah virus infection.


Q : What are the early symptoms  ?

A : The initial presentation is non-specific, characterized by the sudden onset of fever, headache, muscle pain , nausea and vomiting. Neck rigidity and photophobia are also  seen.
The disease rapidly progresses, with deterioration in consciousness *leading to coma within five to seven days.*

Q :How is it diagnosed ?

A : The rdiagnosis is by ELISA which is currently  done at National institute of Virology, Pune.

Q : How is it treated ?

A : Supportive care is the mainstay of treatment and infected patients may require intensive care monitoring.
 *THERE IS NO APPROVED  SPECIFIC THERAPY FOR THIS INFECTION* . So prevention is the only cure !

Q : How do i prevent it ?

A : 1. Avoid contact with pigs and pig handlers  .

2. Maintain personal hygeine and intensive hand washing practices

3. *Avoid consuming raw fruits,* Consume only well cooked, clean, home made food till the outbreak settles down.

4. Preferably use N95 mask while travelling or working in public places to avoid person to person transmission.

5. Be aware of the symptoms and report to the doctor immediately for early diagnosis and treatment.

This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastic releases dioxin into the food.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food... You get the same result, but without the dioxin..

So, such things as TV dinners, instant soups, etc., should be removed from their containers and heated in something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's safer to use tempered glass, such as Pyrex, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the styrene foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons....

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Cling film, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave.

As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food..

Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Aadhaar card linking deadline: The Supreme Court today refused to pass an interim order extending the deadline of March 31 for linking of Aadhaar with the welfare schemes where benefits are transferred to citizens from the Consolidated Fund of India. The top court had on March 13 extended indefinitely the March 31 deadline for linking bank accounts and mobile phone numbers with Aadhaar card. However, it had allowed the government and its agencies to link the 12-digit national biometric identifier number of the beneficiaries for transfer of benefits of schemes funded from this fund.
A plea, seeking extension of time beyond March 31 for linking Aadhaar with welfare schemes, was made today before a five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra after Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), concluded his PowerPoint presentation (PPT), claiming it would take "billions of years" to decrypt the saved data, including the biometrics. Senior advocate K V Viswanath, appearing for a petitioner opposed to the Aadhaar scheme, took a cue from the PPT in which the UIDAI CEO said that the success rate of Aadhaar authentication in government systems was 88 per cent.
"If the data of UIDAI says that there was only 88 per cent success rate of Aadhaar authentication, then it means that 12 per cent people are excluded from the benefits in schemes linked with Aadhaar. Twelve per cent failure is too high," the lawyer said, adding that almost 14 crore citizens cannot take benefits. An interim order is required to be passed to extend the March 31 deadline for welfare schemes also, Viswanath said during the day-long hearing before the bench, which also comprised Justices A K Sikri, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Ashok Bhushan. Attorney General K K Venugopal vehemently opposed the submission saying "nobody has been excluded. Not a single case is there where denial of benefits (for want of Aadhaar) has taken place". The bench then said "We will not pass any interim order at this stage" and added that the petitioner may argue this aspect in their rejoinder submissions.
The UIDAI CEO, in his presentation, referred to the success rate of biometric authentication and said "for government systems, the success rate is 88 per cent, for banks it is 95 per cent and for telecom, it is 97 per cent". He said the success rate of Aadhaar authentication was lower in government system because of some "vested interests". Some people wanted that the Aadhaar-linked services to go and hence, the misinformation was being spread and the some section of media was also helping in it. To buttress the submission, Pandey referred to Aadhaar authentication success rates at banks and in telecom companies and said these were 95 per cent and 97 per cent respectively.
"67 crore SIM cards have been sold by telecom companies by using Aadhaar authentication," he said, adding that in business activities, the success rates were higher and "the reasons are obvious". Allaying the apprehensions regarding failures in authentication of elderly people, the UIDAI CEO said the success rate was 83 per cent and if iris is also matched, then it goes to 90 per cent. He said that from July, the authentication process will also include "face recognition technology" which would be more accurate and enhance the success rate.

37 Killed, Around 70 Missing as Fire Engulfs Mall in Russia

A devastating fire at a shopping center in a Siberian city, killed 37 people and left 69 others missing on Sunday, many of them children, a Russian state news agency reported.
The Tass agency quoted firefighters as saying that 40 of the missing at the four-story Winter Cherry mall in Kemerovo were children. An additional 43 people were injured in the blaze, the report said.
There has been no immediate information on the cause of the fire at the mall, which is about 3,000 kilometers (1,900 miles) east of Moscow.
But Tass reported that the fire started on the top floor and consumed an area of about 1,500 square meters (16,150 square feet).
The reports didn't say if the victims died from burns or smoke inhalation.
The shopping mall, which opened in 2013, has a cinema, petting zoo, children's center and bowling, Tass reported.

Now to make everyone their personal space and a world they are using headphones with their mobile either to make a call or listen to music or watch videos etc. and almost 80 percent people do use it every day. Yes, we must use headphone in our life but the use must be limited to some extent. Because mobile phone releases a kind of radiations which makes our mind and heart weak.



Our sound can hear the range of 20 to 20000 hertz of sound waves beyond or below that god haven’t given us the ability to do so only some exceptional animals do have this ability. Our ear has its limitations that it can only withstand up to 65 percent of the total decibel sound. And when you use a headphone because of its compact structure this sound direct attach your vocal cords and creates more than it, and if such things happen for long it can even damage our ears also. So be careful.



There are many people who have the habit of listening songs while sleeping, I was also one of them at one point of time, but friends let me tell you that this then becomes our habit and some habits are good but not this one. Because of which our brain doesn’t respond properly and the release of sleep hormones gets lower and leading to no sleep during the night. If no sleep then all knows what is happens on the next day.



So avoid using this too much we are not saying that you must stop but to some limit only and with that limited frequency volume. Now there are mobile which are telling you how much you must keep your volume level and above that your ear will have a problem and all. So be careful about your health as it is well said

Lalu Prasad sentenced to 14 years in prison

NEW DELHI: Hours after RJD chief Lalu Prasad was sentenced to 14 years in jail, his son and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav today alleged a threat to his father's life, reported ANI.
"I am sure there is a threat to Lalu ji's life, looking at the conspiracy being planned by BJP," ANI quoted Yadav as saying after his father was sentenced in connection with a fourth fodder scam case.
He also promised to challenge the special CBI court order in the high court.
"We will decide further strategy on the basis of overall judgement in all four cases," he said.
Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi, however, dismissed all allegations, and instead advised Lalu to "appeal in court" if he feared for his life.
"If a person is under police custody and fears for his life, he must go and appeal in court. What is posing the threat to him? How can he be in danger when no one is allowed to meet him," Modi demanded to know.

It is learnt that Kanta Devi married two men in a space of a few months and when her first husband got to know of this, he decided to take law into his own hands.

New Delhi: In a bizzare incident in a local hospital in Ajmer recently, two men assaulted each other after claiming that they had the same wife - a woman called Kanta Devi.
According to local sources, Kanta Devi married a man called Trilok Singh late last year. Earlier this month - on March 13, she married again, this time to a man called Vijendra Singh. Both men were reportedly unaware of her twin marriages. Their ignorance came to a nightmarish end with Kanta Devi visited a local hospital recently with Vijendra. Suspecting her of infidelity, Trilok marched into the hospital with some of his friends and began assaulting both Kanta Devi and Vijendra. While Vijendra did try to fight back, he was eventually forced to take cover in the hospital's post-mortem room with Kanta Devi.
By the time Trilok located them and resumed assaulting them, a large crowd had gathered at the scene. Local cops were called in but some of them too were assaulted by Trilok in a fit of rage. The cops immediately retaliated by packing everyone involved in the brawl in their vehicles. It is learnt that Trilok and his friends were eventually booked on charges of disrupting public peace and order, and will face a local magistrate.

Parliament passes Gratuity Bill to enhance tax benefits for private employees

New Delhi, March 22: Parliament on Thursday passed a key bill that will empower the government to fix the amount of tax free gratuity and the period of maternity leave with an executive order.
The House unanimously passed the Bill after all parties had agreed on it after days of disruptions and deadlock in the House. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said that he had urged the members to take up the bill.
The bill was moved by MoS, Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, was passed by a voice vote.
The Bill was taken up for voice vote on clause-by-clause amendments. Congress MP Subbirami Reddy, who had earlier sought amendments, did not move the amendments.
The Lok Sabha had passed bill just last week.
The Bill seeks to make formal sector workers eligible for tax free Rs 20 lakh gratuity in line with the implementation of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Earlier the formal sector workers were eligible for Rs 10 lakh tax free gratuity after leaving job or at time of superannuation.
The Bill also seeks to allow the central government to notify the maternity leave period for female employees in place of twelve weeks. The proposal comes against the backdrop of the Maternity Benefit Amendment Act, 2017 enhancing the maximum maternity leave period to 26 weeks.
The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 was enacted to provide for a scheme for the payment of gratuity to employees engaged in factories, mines, oilfields, plantations, ports, railway companies, shops or other establishments who have rendered a minimum five years of continuous service with an establishment employing ten or more persons.

Class 9 student commits suicide, parents allege molestation by teachers

A class 9 student of a school in Delhi was found hanging in her house in Noida. The 15-year-old committed suicide after she failed in her class 9 exams.
The family has alleged that the teachers harassed and molested her.
The girl was taken to Kailash Hospital, Noida, where the doctors declared her dead. The teenager's parents have accused the teachers of deliberately failing her in two subjects and putting "too much pressure" on her.
According to the school authorities, the 15-year-old did not fail but was to appear in a re-test.
"She told me her SST teachers touched her inappropriately, I said since I'm also a teacher I can say they can't do it, might be a mistake but she said, I'm scared of them, no matter how well I write they'll fail me. Ultimately they failed her in SST. The school killed her", the teenager's father told ANI.
However, Dharmendra Goel, principal of the school, has claimed that the girl was not molested. "No such incident happened, Kabhi bhi parents ne shikhayat nahi ki (the parents never complained)".
"This is a very unfortunate incident, we are in touch with the parents", the principal added.
Initially, an FIR was lodged against two male teachers for abetment of suicide under section 306 and 506 of the IPC. Now, the case has also been registered under POCSO as well.

China develops artificial heart with rocket technology

The heart was developed jointly by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) and the Teda International Cardiovascular Hospital in North China’s Tianjin.
The artificial heart has been sent for testing and inspection after thorough experiments on animals, Science and Technology Daily reported, citing Li Hong, former director of CALT from the state-owned China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
The artificial heart uses magnetic and fluid levitation from a rocket system, and the “aerospace heart” is expected to move to clinical trials during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), state-run Global Times reported. “The magnetic and fluid levitation technology can reduce the friction in the device to increase the working efficiency and extend the life span of the power generator,” the report quoted as saying Song Zhongping, a military expert and TV commentator.
This technology used can reduce damage to the blood and enable the blood pump to work longer. “There is no self-made artificial heart approved for sale in China. For now, patients have to rely on heart transplants,” Sun Hongtao, associate chief physician at the Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital, told Science and Technology Daily.
“An imported artificial heart could cost 100,000 euros (USD 152,800). If China could produce its own artificial heart at a lower cost, that will definitely benefit heart patients in China,” Sun said. Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital also developed an artificial heart using magnetic levitation, and the man-made hearts have been planted in three of the patients from June to October 2017, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on March 9.
Sun said artificial hearts were typically used while waiting for a heart transplant, or to permanently replace the heart in case heart transplants are not possible. In 2013, scientists planted a man-made heart in a sheep, which survived for 120 days in good health. The hearts were then placed in six other sheep and all survived 100 days or longer, which proved that the heart is qualified for batch production, the Science and Technology report said.
